On May 24th, the "SmartHK 2023 Forum for Promoting High-Quality Development in Hong Kong" was held in Guangzhou. The forum, themed "Guangdong-Hong Kong Cooperation for Promoting High-Quality Development," brought together representatives from various sectors in Guangdong and Hong Kong to explore new directions for cooperation and new business opportunities for global economic recovery. It aimed at assisting Guangdong-Hong Kong enterprises in seizing opportunities that help in National development while promoting high-quality development in the Greater Bay Area.
Among the prominent government leaders in attendance were Carrie Lam, the 4th Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province, Yin Zonghua, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Zhang Xin, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Lin Jianyue, Chairman, and Fang Shunwen, President, of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. In his remarks, the incumbent Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee said that the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is personally planned, deployed, and promoted by President Xi Jinping. It is a major development strategy under China's new era of reformation and opening up, and also the best gateway for the integration of Hong Kong into the country's overall development. The Hongkong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government team will work to promote interconnectivity and advance high-quality development in the Greater Bay Area, and steer Hong Kong towards active participation in the country's overall development.

Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province, extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the provincial party committee and government on the opening of the forum. He said the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area aims to become a strategic focal point of the new development paradigm, a model for high-quality development, and a vanguard for China's modernization. At present, Guangdong is thoroughly implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC that was ingrained in General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks and instructions during his inspection tour of Guangdong. Focusing on the primary task of "high-quality development" and the strategic task of "building a new development paradigm," Guangdong strives to take the lead in building China's pathway to modernization. This will bring in wide-ranging market opportunities and unlimited business potential for overseas enterprises, including those from Hong Kong.
